Organic Exchange is a non-profit, charitable organisation whose mission is to catalyse global markets to expand organic fibre agriculture. Organic Exchange endeavours to shift the market to where the promise of organic farming can be realised - a market where farmers are known and celebrated, where great design, innovative products and stewardship of the land go hand in hand, where healthy and fair returns are shared by everyone in the chain - bringing responsible, sustainable products to consumers everywhere.
Organic Exchange believes that market forces are powerful tools for creating and sustaining change, and encourages companies to measure their cotton use, commit to a long-term transition goal, develop organic cotton products consistent with their brand, work with suppliers and farmers to achieve it, and track and report results.
Organic Exchange leverages foundation and donor funds to ultimately provide the tools that will encourage Southern and Eastern African farmers to participate in the creation of a ‘market-driven' solution that can address environmental and social concerns and strengthen rural communities, thereby easing poverty.
